About Me

As a psychotherapist for over 20 years, I have had a keen interest in the stories people have shared of their lives. I’ve been particularly heartened by the resilience they have shown when meeting with adversity and how their difficulties have deepened their wisdom and appreciation of life.

As a daughter, I often asked my mother to write down the story of how she came to Canada, how she met my dad, and something of both the extended families. She loved to write and her intentions were good. However, she was busy with a variety of other activities and the family history never got done. When someone dies, some of the most precious family stories may go with them. Now we have easily accessible technology to preserve them.

As a writer ("The Body Means Well: Empowered Healing" was inspired by my work with cancer patients over the years) I love to gather information and present it in a way that reflects the courage, sense of humour and creative determination of the person I am writing about.

Undoubtedly there are people in your own family who have never heard about your ancestors – or important anecdotes of your own life. There may be people who have been important to your growth or success that you want to recognize and appreciate in the telling. Just doing a "life review" can be an incredibly valuable tool in gaining self awareness and insight.
